Poole Speedway enters a new era of British Speedway with a brand new headline sponsor backing the side with Volvo Cars Poole backing the Pirates.
The newly entitled "Volvo Cars Poole Pirates" will formally be revealed later today as the club stages its Press and Practice Day and promoter Matt Ford is delighted with the news of this headline sponsorship. "I am really proud that we have such a prestigious company backing us and am looking forward to our association with Volvo Cars Poole. Like our speedway team their product is a leader in its own industry and it is my intention that the team will make 'VCP' as proud to be linked to us as I am in being able to carry their name. I cannot thank David Kelly (MD of Ocean Automotive, who own Volvo Cars Poole) and James Litton (General Manager and Director of Volvo Cars Poole) enough for their support and the manner in which we were able to bring this deal together "
Although speedway action returns after its winter hibernation to Wimborne Road on Friday (24th) with the Darcy Ward Invitational Meeting, the Volvo Cars Poole Pirates will have to wait until Monday 27th before they ride as a collective, when they visit 2016 league champions Wolverhampton, before returning to Wimborne Road against the same opponents on Wednesday 29th March, in the Elite Shield, a trophy that the Pirates proudly hold.
