DATE WITH DARCY

18/07/16

Poole Stadium and The Darcy Ward Foundation have agreed to move the location of Wednesday’s Darcy Ward fan forum to the much larger glass grandstand at Wimborne Road rather than the Champs Bar.

Officials were worried that the Champs bar may not have accommodated all those wanting to see and hear the star and have agreed that the change will be much better suited to the large crowd that is expected. There is an additional benefit in that any fans who are unable to get a close up view of the event will be able to listen in via the stadium PA system.
The forum will take place after the conclusion of the Pirates v Wolverhampton match on Wednesday when Darcy and Partner Lizzie will be talking to their followers and answering questions.
Entry to the forum is free of charge as the pair are keen to give back to the fans following the outstanding support they have been shown throughout the last 11 months since Darcy’s life changing accident.
For those who would like to put a question to Darcy and Lizzie but may feel shy of raising it in public, questions can be sent in advance to Nigel Leahy at nigel@darcywardfoundation.com
There will be a range of official Darcy Ward merchandise on sale in the West stand throughout the evening and it is intended to host a free raffle for those attending.
The forum event is expected to last for up to an hour after racing.

There is no admission fee, as Ward is keen to repay the generosity that he has been shown by the countless fundraising initiatives that have taken place on his behalf.

“The support I have received has been completely overwhelming,” says the injured star. “I want to be able to thank everyone properly and I hope that as many people as possible will come along to meet me and Lizzie at Poole. It will be great to catch up with all our friends there and I know it will be a great night.
We are planning to have a free raffle for everyone that comes, so someone will go home with a really unique souvenir.

Of course, if people want to donate to the foundation we would be delighted, but this night is not about the money, it’s about giving back.”
Ward will be visiting the UK for a short time only, attending the World Cup in Manchester and then travelling down to Dorset, where he hopes to take in a couple of Poole fixtures.
However, he has a busy schedule with planned visits to Poland and Sweden on the agenda before returning home after his whistle-stop tour.
