PIRATES DECLINE PREMIERSHIP KO CUP INVITATION
Poole Speedway has made the decision not to participate in the 2025 Premiership Knockout Cup. While the invitation was both unexpected and exciting...
Kyle Newman was last night in good spirits despite trying to battle his way back to full fitness following his crash at Peterborough on the 21st of July.
Newman was the innocent victim in an incident involving Peterborough's Zdenek Holub and suffered a broken collarbone in the nasty crash.
In the weeks since the crash Newman has been battling his own demons but is now in the process of dragging himself back to fitness and is now looking forward to reclaiming his place in the Poole and Plymouth sides.
Kyle said, "In the weeks since the crash I've gotten really down on myself. I think that was a combination of this crash and how the season so far. It's been so stop start and I have been unable to achieve the level of consistency that I expect from myself.
"I've got over that now and I'm back on the push bike in the garage with the turbo trainer trying to keep up a decent level of fitness.
"My shoulder and arm are healing well. The bone feels good but I know i need to build up the strength in the muscle around it before I attempt to get back on a speedway bike.
"What I will say is that I have made good progress since the crash but I don't want to commit when I will be back, I have to take one step at a time."
Kyle was keen to thanks fans for their messages of support, and he was especially keen to thank Paul Ackroyd and the guys at the Ben Fund for there help.
Newman said, "Paul and the Ben Fund have been great, they've helped me out and I really appreciate it. They do fantastic work and it's at times like these you realise how much good work they do.
"I've had so many messages of support from fans of all clubs and it means so much to me to read them. That's the type of thing that keeps you motivated during the hard times."
