PIRATES DECLINE PREMIERSHIP KO CUP INVITATION
Poole Speedway has made the decision not to participate in the 2025 Premiership Knockout Cup. While the invitation was both unexpected and exciting...
Chris Holder heads for Cardiff on July 9th in championship third place despite failing to make the semi-finals in Prague in round 4.
For the first time this season Holder missed the cut as he struggled to make any real impression at the Marketta Stadium, finishing his night with just 5 points, to move on to 44 for the series.
He was denied an extra point in his final ride when he had to react quickly to shut off as he was mounting a challenge on leader Nicki Pedersen. The Dane however took the piece of track Holder had earmarked for his move and to avoid any serious consequences Holder backed off and couldn't recover there-after.
Holder was pointless from his first two rides but opened his account in heat 10 when he followed Greg Hancock home, beating two eventual semi-finalists - Freddie Lindgren and Chris Harris - in the process. He then fended off reigning world champion Tai Woffinden for a single point in heat 14 before having to settle for that second place in his battle with Pedersen in heat 17.
Whilst Holder's night ended early there was still Australian success as Jason Doyle produced a superb passing ride in the final to deny championship leader Greg Hancock victory on the night and collect his first ever GP title, with Chris Harris sneaking into the final eight and then making a last lap pass on Iversen to earn a rostrum spot.
