PREVIEW: PIRATES AWARE OF BEARS ATTACK
Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates return to league action at Wimborne Road and face a mighty tussle against the strong looking Redcar 'Agil...
Adam Ellis scored 5 points on his racing comeback in the tough world U21 final at King's Lynn, recovering splendidly from a disastrous start.
In a meeting that took four hours to complete Ellis narrowly missed out on a semi-finals berth when his final heat was stopped whilst he was leading. It was one of numerous stopped heats on the night, with Ellis himself being the recipient of two disqualifications.
The first was in his opening ride when he infringed at the tapes ,then in his second outing after moving into third place he fell on the fourth turn, the last thing he needed given he was still carrying a shoulder injury.
The rest of the meeting he showed no signs of discomfort and became involved in some tense racing as he picked up a second and a third place in his next two rounds.
With the scores fairly even mid-order a win in his heat 20 outing would have squeezed him into the top eight and he was heading there until Jonas Andersson and Mikkel Anderson tangled behind him. In the re-start Bartosz Smektala was sharper away and his victory put him through on 7 points.
Robert Lambert looked a strong bet to win the meeting but was out-manouevered in the final by Krystian Pieszczek who already beaten by the King's Lynn youngster, gained sweet revenge. Australian Max Fricke finished third in the final but trails his compatriot Jack Holder in the championship standings by a single point.
Fricke was another rider to suffer a crash tangling with Andersen on the back straight just as he was completing an overtake. The incident led to a disqualification for Fricke.
The night, littered with fallers, saw Pawel Przedpelski taken to hospital with an arm injury.
Two more rounds are to follow in the championship
