Adam Ellis has received a call-up for the World Under-21 Team Cup semi-final in Denmark next month.
Youth boss Neil Vatcher released details of his side today which calls-up Ellis, and fellow rostrum finishers in the British U21 championship - Josh Bates and Robert Lambert. That trio will be joined by Max Clegg for the meeting at Holsted on June 4th
Vatcher said: “To select Lambert, Ellis and Bates was a no-brainier, and I’m sure anyone sat in the hot seat would have had no qualms regarding selecting the top three from this year’s British Under 21 Final - but the remaining position caused me a few restless nights debating which rider to take.
“There were certainly a few names who put their case forward, and there was also one rider who certainly would have been considered but is not yet eligible as the age limit for FIM events is 16 years old. Young Jack Parkinson-Blackburn is still only 15, otherwise for sure he would have been on the short-list.
“After much consideration, the fourth member of the team will be Max. I can only speak as I find, and I know he has been struggling a bit this year with some new equipment, but every time that I have seen Max ride he has impressed me.
“Max did a guest booking for me when I was at Lakeside last year, and he blew me away. Then at last years British Under-19 Final at Berwick, in tough conditions, and also in this years Under-21 final Max has looked the business, and I believe he will raise his game when he gets the Union Jack on his chest.
“For the British team to travel to Denmark with four riders who all ride in the Elite League is a massive bonus. Lambert, Ellis and Bates all have competed at this level now on a number of occasions, this semi-final will not phase them and we will go there full of confidence.”
The Young Lions would like to thank their team sponsors Bob Taylor of Direct Digital Controls Limited, Mike Bowden of Downers Racing, Wessex Marine, and also all the support and help from the BSPA.
