SGP1 RESULT

Chris Holder's 2016 World Championship title assault began with a rostrum finish in Krsko, Slovenia.

The 2012 World Champion reached the finals after finishing the qualifying heats on level points with two former Pirates Maciej Janowski and Antonio Lindback and had choice of gates in the second semi-final.

Opting for the inside in a race of champions - it featured both Greg Hancock and Tai Woffinden - Holder booked his place in his 17th final with a perfect gate, but couldn't reap the same dividends in the final itself. Dane Peter Kildemand had different ideas and despite getting into trouble momentarily he recovered swiftly and stretched his lead.

Holder was rounded by fellow Aussie Jason Doyle and then had to fend off Woffinden but did enough to claim the third rostrum spot and second place overall in the series.

Summing up his thoughts of his night's work Holder declared "I'm really happy, to make a final is really good and to be on the podium is really cool. All these boys are really good riders and Peter (Kildemand) was really on it tonight, just like all the others. To leave here with some good points is what its all about and I am looking to going even better in the next round."
