PIRATES DECLINE PREMIERSHIP KO CUP INVITATION
Poole Speedway has made the decision not to participate in the 2025 Premiership Knockout Cup. While the invitation was both unexpected and exciting...
Bjarne Pedersen, Poole's second all-time highest points scorer is on his way back to the Dorset club and will make his first Pirates appearance since 3rd September 2014 when he guested for Darcy Ward, on Wednesday night when the Pirates visit King's Lynn
But this time he will be in the Poole attire in his own right following Matt Ford's decision to re-declare his side after a problematical start to the season for club captain Dave Watt.
Ford said "This was a tough call to make as I really wanted to give Davey as much support as possible as I know he has a few issues outside of racing. But we are in a results driven business and it just has not been happening for Dave. In speedway there are windows of opportunity that arise and now is such an occasion. Bjarne was kicking his heels wanting to ride in Britain again and, hard as it is to drop Davey, the switch just needed to be made."
Pedersen last rode on contract for Poole in the 2010 season and has since given service to Eastbourne, Birmingham and Leicester. Everything was geared up for the 37 year old Dane to ride for Lakeside this season but a change of direction by the Essex club saw him lose his berth before a wheel was turned in anger.
Bjarne who sits some 921.5 points behind club record holder Craig Boyce, comes into the Pirates side on a 6.55 average.
