BRONZED ADAM

15/04/16

Poole's promising reserve Adam Ellis missed out on lifting the British U21 final at Sheffield last evening, gaining overall third place after automatically qualifying for the all-deciding final race.

Ellis, who has been in great early season form since linking up with the Pirates, scored 13 points from his five qualifying rides, t wo less than this fellow finalist Robert Lambert who had gone unbeaten.

They were joined by 2013 champion Josh Bates (11) and Jack Parkinson-Blackburn (11) who both came through the repercharge at the expense of Nathan Greaves (9) and Max Clegg (11) to set up and intense final.

Ellis made a decent start and concentrated on trying to close out Lambert but in doing so Josh Bates seized an opportunity to take up the running and claim that second championship victory for himself. Lambert was to get by Ellis on the third lap to determine the destiny of the minor medals.
