The #WALK4DARCY has received another timely boost with the news that Readypower has donated a significant sum to the project.
The Berkshire-based business is a plant-hire company that operates all over the UK from several regional depots and directors Julie Mahoney and Rick Frost are currently the main sponsors to Poole Pirates, after previously running Peterborough Speedway.
After speaking to organiser Steve Brandon, they have donated to the costs of the project in what is another huge help as the start of the walk grows ever closer.
“Rick and Julie didn’t hesitate to help after I spoke with them and I’m just extremely grateful. There are so many things to take into account that cost money for the project but because of the generous donations by the likes of Readypower, we don’t have any financial pressure and that is a huge help,” said Brando.
“I have been taken aback by the generosity of our partners and it really has given me a boost to be honest. The walk is not only a physically testing challenge but it has taken an awful lot of organising and infrastructure so when you get donations from people like Rick and Julie it gives a real boost and spurs you on. I want to thank them sincerely and just express my gratitude.”
Rick Frost, Readypower General Manager, said; “Words are hard to describe the tragic outcome of Darcy`s accident. We have all seen countless accidents in speedway over the years but fortunately the injured rider usually makes a full recovery and continues with his racing career.
“Sadly in this case there will be no full recovery or return to the track and speedway has lost forever one of the most talented young riders in the sport before he had the chance to reach his full potential. We wish him well in the future for whatever lies ahead for him.”
