RESULT: TORUN GP

1/10/16

Although marred by the enforced withdrawal of championship leader Jason Doyle after a high-speed unavoidable crash that left him with a shoulder injury, the Torun-staged penultimate GP of the series dished up plenty of intense speedway, and climaxed with Dane Niels-Kristian Iversen stealing his all-time 5th GP victory.

The highly acclaimed Torun circuit provided the perfect stage for good racing throughout and Iversen's determination in the final to overhaul Greg Hancock was just one of many excellent races.

Iversen's 15 point haul puts him tantalisingly close to the top 8 as he is now level on points with Zagar and Antonio Lindback all of whom with 79 points are vying to overhaul Freddie Lindgren's 82, the Swede already guaranteed his place in next season's series after qualifying through the GP challenge.

Despite dropping points in that final, Hancock will now head to Melbourne where he was unbeaten last season, with an 11 point advantage over Doyle who sustained a dislocated shoulder when the innocent victim of a heat three crash.

Poole's Chris Holder cruised into the semi-finals but was eliminated at that stage but has consolidated his top 8 placing as he has now accumulated 109 points for an overall 5th placing.

The series concludes in Melbourne on Saturday October 22nd.
