KYLE HUNGRY TO GET STARTED

15/03/16

After two successful Press and Practice days with both Plymouth and Poole, Kyle Newman is now hungry for the season to begin. Newman took to the track on Saturday and Monday as part of the traditional preseason warm up and is now desperate for the racing to begin.

Newman, who has won back to back titles with the Pirates, is confident of a successful season with Poole and he knows that only means one thing... retaining their Elite League crown.

Kyle said, "In the club's recent history fans have been used to good teams who have showered them with silverware. With that comes the pressure to win and the whole team knows there is an expectation from the fans to compete at the top of the Elite League.

"I think Poole have recruited wisely this winter. We have a top end with bags of Elite League Championship experience, and a tail filled with exciting potential. It should be a big season and I can't wait to start against Coventry on Wednesday."

Kyle has recently returned from a winter training camp in Croatia with Team GB, an activity which he admits he had "never experienced before. It's always good to get some productive practice sessions in before the season starts but I haven't experienced anything like this before.

"It was excellent to get back on the bike. I felt really good, really fit, and I felt comfortable on the bike as well. The bikes were fast and I was happy with my times throughout the sessions so overall it was a perfect way to warm up for the season".

"Credit has to go to Alun Rossiter and the BSPA for setting up the weekend. All the boys learnt a lot from the experience and I also have to thank Oliver Allen as well, he had some excellent words of advice for everyone.

"Away from the track I have to say Paul Suggitt (fitness professional) was full of great advice about fitness and nutrition that can help us be at our best through a long season. I learned a lot and it's definitely advice I'll take with me throughout the season.

"Rosco (Alun Rossiter) was keen to get across his ideas for the future of the national side which I think all of the guys were excited by.There are a lot of us on the fringes of the World Cup setup but all of us have the same goal, to race well enough to at least be in Rosco's thoughts when he has to make his selection. "It was all worth the long trip and now I feel ready for that first meeting for Poole against Coventry."
