After scoring 10 points from his five programmed rides Pirates new-signing Brady Kurtz finished overall fourth in the opening round of the Australian Championships.
Kurtz, who had won the previous night's qualifying round, took victory in the repercharge, a heat reserved for the fourth to seventh highest scorers, to join former Pirates Rohan Tungate (14) and Sam Masters (12) along with Max Fricke (13) in the Grand Final.
The Kurri-Kurri event saw Tungate fight back from a determined mid-race challenge by Masters to take the victory as the championship moves on to Undera on January 6th, Gillman (8th) and concluding at the Olympic Park Speedway, Mildura on January 10th.
