PREVIEW: PIRATES AWARE OF BEARS ATTACK
Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates return to league action at Wimborne Road and face a mighty tussle against the strong looking Redcar 'Agil...
Poole ReadyPower Pirates have turned to Australian stalwarts Chris Holder and Dave Watt to complete their 2016 septet.
With well over 400 club appearances for Poole between them the two Australians have been selected from the heat leader list by Pirates' boss Matt Ford for a return next season to make it three members of the 2015 champions set to defend the league crown, as they join reserve Kyle Newman.
Since joining the Dorset club in 2008 Holder has gone on to win four league crowns as a Pirate whilst also playing a part early season in the club's 2014 triumph.
Watt, who will assume the role of captain in 2016, secured league championship honours with Poole in 2003, 2008, 2011 and 2015 whilst also having made a cameo role at the start of 2004, another year in which Poole took top spot.
Poole boss Ford said "Both riders have that winning mentality and know what it takes to be a Poole rider. For sure, by his own high standards, Chris perhaps didn't have the best of seasons last year but many tend to forget that he has been enduring a tough time fighting back to full fitness after a spate of serious injuries.
"Both showed unprecedented resolve after the shocking news with Darcy last August and I totally admired the manner in which they picked the club up whilst also showing great passion and support for their stricken buddy.
"It is pretty clear to me that Poole speedway runs through their veins and I am delighted to have them both back for 2016 and I know for sure that they will mastermind the drive for a fourth successive league title."
