PREVIEW: PIRATES HEAD TO DEVON LOOKING FOR POINTS
Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates will be out to make it three from three when they travel to Plymouth on Saturday 26th April (7pm) in the BSN ...
Poole have completed the lower order of their 2016 team with the announcement of the return of local boy Kyle Newman and new signing Adam Ellis to fill the reserve berths.
Newman begins his third successive campaign with the Pirates although has been involved in each of the Pirates' historic three straight title wins, as he guested in the play-off final in 2013, whilst 19 year old Ellis was a league champion winner last year with Birmingham at National league level where he doubled up with Elite league side Lakeside.
Ellis joins the club on a mimimum 3 point average despite whilst operating as a Lakeside reserve averaging at 4.89, 0.79 higher than Newman's converted Premier league and Poole boss Matt Ford is expecting both reserves to be making a bold bid for places in the main order of the team during the course of the season., but has also expressed his sadness about having to release Paul Starke - "In Kyle and Adam we have two very talented reserves who can both make a mark and a stride towards being main team members and I would expect both to be doing so. But as happens every season when you build a side you often have to lose riders who you would have preferred not to. In our case this season it is Paul who was terrific with us in 2015 and a real joy to work with and I am very sorry that we could not accommodate him for a second term."
Starke has joined Leicester for the 2016 campaign.
