Poole Speedway has made the decision not to participate in the 2025 Premiership Knockout Cup. While the invitation was both unexpected and exciting...
Injured Darcy Ward has revealed that even he can't stay away from Wednesday night's MAGIC v THE MONSTER special challenge at Wimborne Road.
Ward revealed earlier this evening that he has been given permission by the medical team to make the trip to Poole on the very night the speedway club is staging a special Benefit meeting for him.
In announcing that he would be attending Ward said via his Twitter account "Happy to say I'll be attending my benefit meeting at Poole on Wednesday. Please don't expect much everything still so hard. Excited though."
Ward sufferered serious injuries in a crash in Poland on August 23rd and the benefit meeting being hosted by Poole Speedway, one of several such meetings planned across the world, is to help raise funds for his on-going medical care and rehabilitation and undoubtedly his presence at Poole just a week after the Pirates claimed their third successive Elite league title will be an emotional occasion.
The special challenge featuring a Maciej Janowski select side against a Team Monster seven will be held over 16 heats, the last of which will feature the top two scorers from both sides.
Poole boss Matt Ford has confirmed that all heats and riders have now attracted sponsors and believes this could be one of the most unmissable nights of many a season "I am delighted and amazed that Darcy is determined to attend the meeting, it is a major step forward for him on a very long road but one that he has his mind set on making. His presence is bound to add to the emotion. I would like to thank everyone who has stepped forward to offer up sponsorship. That list includes County Crest Pallets who are the main meeting sponsors, Cole Builders of Milton Keynes, ReadyPower, Gordon Pairman, Wessex Marine, The Luxton Family, Specsavers, Drive Revive, Carnival Flowers, One Twenty Motorsports, Deb & Kev Howland, Dorset Soils and Aggregates, Asbury Heating Maintenance, Trucks 'R' Us, Meridian Lifts, The Brixey Family, APT Car Sales, Maidment Properties, Excalibur Communication, M&J Sealey Brick Laying Services, M&S Van & Truck Rental, Swindon Speedway, Kim and Kev, Hazel Hayes, Daresbury Boarding, Steve and Carol, RMD Engineering, SBS Epos, King's Lynn Speedway, James Phipps, Frys Electrical Ltd, and Peter Johns Racing.
The meeting starts at 7.30pm with the gates opening at 6pm and in line with all Poole meetings will be an all-pay on the day with admission prices set at £20 Adults, £17 OAPs & Concessions, £7 11-15 year olds, £4 5-10 year olds, Under Fives admitted Free.
Whilst Ward will be a special guest on Wednesday the ReadyPower Pirates will be special guests of Poole Council on Friday when the Borough will be holding a special Civic Reception for the riders and management to mark their magnificent league title success this season.
