PREVIEW: PIRATES HEAD TO DEVON LOOKING FOR POINTS
Poole 'Wessex Marine' Pirates will be out to make it three from three when they travel to Plymouth on Saturday 26th April (7pm) in the BSN ...
The 2013 World U21 champion Patryk Dudek will be appearing at Wimborne Road on Wednesday 7th October when a gathering of true speedway talent will assemble in support of the massively popular Darcy Ward.
In a meeting billed as MAGIC V THE MONSTER, Dudek will line up as a member of Maciej Janowski's seven, joining fellow Pole and former Pirate Przemyslaw Pawlicki, GP rider Andreas Jonsson, present Pirates Dave Watt and Dakota North and Belle Vue's Josh Grajczonek.
They will be pitching their skills against a side led by 2012 World champion Chris Holder which will include his younger brother Jack, 2015 world U21 finalist Brady Kurtz, fellow Australians Nick Morris and Troy Batchelor, the legendary Pirate Bjarne Pedersen and the reigning world champion Greg Hancock.
The blend of the line-up brings together popular Pirates plus prospective talent and no doubt Poole promoter Matt Ford will be casting a keen eye on some of the performances during the night which is all about raising funds for the Darcy Ward Rehabilitation Fund.
Ford said "This is a fantastic way to bring our season to a close. In truth I wish that we weren't in the position of having to raise money for a rider but we all know what a cruel sport speedway can be. Last week we completed our third Elite league title in a row and dedicated that victory to Darcy, and whilst I know he was full of pride over that dedication and that will encourage him mentally, as he continues to make slow progress, there are bigger matters to attend to. He is receiving the very best in care and treatment but that comes at a price and I really hope that through this meeting we can boost the fund and take away a lot of the worry that he and his family will no doubt have."
"As a club we are happy to underwrite the staging costs of the meeting so that all the monies raised by the supporters, who have been absolutely fabulous and united across the world since that tragic night in August, can go into the fund. We still have some sponsorship opportunities remaining and we would urge anyone who would like to make a 'reasonable' offer to sponsor a heat or a rider - and we have some real talent on show - to contact us as soon as possible."
Admission prices for this meeting will be £20 for Adults and £17 for concessions with the children tariffs remaining at the standard levels. There will be FREE Speedway Star magazines issued with the first 1200 programmes (£3) sold on the night.
