RESULT: SCANDINAVIAN GP

GREG HANCOCK's second place in the Scandinavian Grand Prix gives him a 12 point lead in the championship race with just one round remaining, but the big talking point of the Stockholm meeting was the return to form of Poland's Jaroslaw Hampel who claimed top stpot with a 21 point maximum.

Hampel, the reigning world number two, went into the 11th round on just 66 points and languishing in 14th place in the standings, but after a 7 ride unbeaten evening he is now level on 87 points with Freddie Lindgren and the injured Niels-Kristian Iversen as they share 7th to 9th positions.

Hampel's Swedish supremacy means he is in an ideal position to collect an automatic place in next year's championship whilst his fellow Pole, Krzysztof Kasprzak takes on the mantle of pushing for a championship medal this season. KK, finishing third in the final behind Hancock, with Chris Holder fourth,featuring in his second final this season - both of which have been in Sweden!

Hancock, on his first competitive outing since the hand injury sustained in the Gorzow round, brushed off an opening ride last place to stedily build up a healthy lead to take with him to Torun (October 11th). He holds a 12 point advantage over Kasprzak and has a 15 point lead over reigning world champion Tai Woffinden, who, despite scraping into the semi-finals on 7 points has slipped to 3rd place in the championship just 3 point ahead of Matej Zagar who has now overhauled Nicki Pedersen.

Zagar's 12 points have cemented a top 8 finish in this year's championship thus the qualification place he gained at last week's GP Challenge in Italy will now be handed to Poole's Maciej Janowski.
