Maciej Janowski is on the cusp of being in the 2015 Grand Prix Series after scoring 11 points in the Lonigo-staged GP Challenge.
"Magic" was two points short of the rostrum which featured current GP stars Matej Zagar (1st after a run-off) and Chris Harris (3rd) and Australian Jason Doyle (2nd).
But with Zagar, currently 5th in this year's championship with two rounds remaining, looking good value to finish in this year's top 8 of the Championship and thus gain automatic qualification to the 2015 GPs his GP Challenge qualifying place will, subject to confirmation by the GP organisers, be handed to 4th placed Janowski.
The Poole pro-temp captain was sat level with fellow Pirate Przemyslaw Pawlicki after three rides apiece on 6 points and they met in their fourth outing joined by Harris, who at the time was on 8 points equal with the fourth member of the heat Peter Kildemand. The two Poles and Kildemand were involved in a three rider crash which resulted in disqualification for Kildemand and Janowski went on to win the re-run with Shamek third behind Harris.
Harris, who needed this GP lifeline as he languishes in 15th place in the current championship, won his final programmed heat, beating Doyle to ensure he would secure a top 3 position whilst Zagar headed home Janowski in heat 19 to deny the Pole any hope of guaranteed involvement in 2015.
Pawlicki completed his night on 10 points level with Argentinian Nicolas Covatti and Tomas H Jonasson
