RESULT: POOLE 62 v KING'S LYNN 30

1/09/15

Poole Ready Power Pirates showed considerable united strength as they assembled for the first time since club asset Darcy Ward sustained such cruel injuries from a crash in Poland

Not only did they record their fourth straight win and made it eleven straight home matches undefeated, the Pirates recorded their second biggest win of the season with a 62-30 mauling of King's Lynn Stars.
The atmosphere at Wimborne Road was unsurprisingly sombre before the meeting but the two riders that have been closest to Ward in the last ten days, Chris Holder and Dave Watt combined for the perfect start for the Pirates with an opening 5-1.
A heat two victory by Josh Bates not only proved to be Kyle Newman's single dropped point all evening but it also was to be just one of three winning rides the Stars could celebrate. Guest Richard Lawson denied both Chris Holder and skipper Magic Janowski their maximums when he took the honours in heat 7 and then Robert Lambert ended an otherwise perfect night for Kacper Gomolski, the Pole the pick of an all-round great team performance from the Pirates. Lambert didn't have the win easy, Gomolski trying everything in his repertoire to try and get by, but just being edged out.
Earlier in the meeting he had made an awesome first bend dive through the Lynn riders, one of whom was Niels-Kristian Iversen seeking double points and it was Gomolski's brilliance that tempered the threat of that tactic as the Pirates edged ever nearer their goal of finishing in top spot prior to the play-offs.
Once they had seen the tactical through with the Stars only able to reduce the deficit to ten, the Pirates began to run riot with five maximum heat scores from heat 8 onwards.
