'HOME' PRIDE FOR PEDERSEN IN SWEDEN

24/07/15

Dackarna rider Nicki Pedersen put his home track knowledge to perfect use as he charged to his 15th all-time Grand Prix victory but was unable to make any inroads into series leader Tai Woffinden as they both finished their night in Malilla, Sweden on 17 GP points, Woffinden working his way to the runners-up spot ahead of wild card Antonio Lindback.

Previous round winner Maciej Janowski agonisingly missed out on a chance of the semi-finals when he finished on 8 points - a heat 17 last place costing him dear along with a referee's call to adjudge that Niels-Kristian Iversen just crossed the line ahead of fellow Dane Michael Jepsen Jensen in heat 19 for second and third.
Had the decision gone the other way then Janowski would have scraped in by virtue that he had beaten Jepsen Jensen, who would have finished on 8 points too in their earlier meeting.

Chris Holder went through his heats producing some exciting passing to total 10 points - unbeaten after two rides a-piece - but then lost out in the first semi-final which Pedersen won from Woffinden and Iversen in third.

Holder made an absolute epic move in heat 13 when charging to the front in determined style before having to try and deal with Matej Zagar's pressure on his shoulder as they contested the outside lines. That battle made an opening to their left and Lindback needed no second invitation to exploit it and take up the lead. Zagar's persistence continued and eventually he pulled ahead of Holder as the intensity of the meeting, which had suffered an hours delay due to mopping up activities caused by heavy rainfall throughout the day.

Woffinden had started the meeting slowly but improved dramatically and was excellent value for money with some of the moves he pulled off, and although he led home Pedersen when they met in heat 8, the Dane eventually proved to be his most stubborn opponent.
