RESULT: GP DENMARK

DARCY WARD missed out on reaching the Grand Final in Copenhagen after scoring 8 points from his qualifying heats to finish as one of the top 8 scorers on the night. As a semi-finalist Ward missed the chance of progressing to the final when hs 2013 Pirate team-mate, evergreen Greg Hancock foiled every attempt the Poole skipper made to try and improve on his third place.

Instead, Hancock took advantage to carve out a slender championship lead by picking up the final rostrum place behind Aussie sensation Troy Batchelor, who was unbeaten going into that last race, and eventual winner Niels-Kristian Iversen.

World champion Tai Woffinden who had gone into the meeting one point ahead of Hancock, suffered the same fate as Ward - eliminated in his semi-final heat as wild card Peter Kildemand and Iversen ensured the last ever GP race at the Parken venue would have a 50% chance of returning a Danish winner.

Iversen sensationally did that by coming out top in a tight first turn and despite an intense chase by Batchelor who had dominated all evening, the King's Lynn rider became the first home nation winner of a Danish Grand Prix in 8 years.

With the main championship protagonists all dropping points during the course of the meeting, 2012 world champion Chris Holder, watching from the comfort of his lounge nursing a broken wrist, found that he did not lose too much ground in the in the series race, holding 7th place, just 18 points off Hancock's 73 point total, ahead of his targetted comeback at Cardiff which is the next round on July 12th.
