Although denied the chance to see speedway sensation Darcy Ward back in Poole kevlars, Pirate fans will have a regular chance to 'be in touch' with their hero throughout the 2016 campaign as he becomes a contributor to the match day programmes.
Despite being on the other side of the world, embarking on a life of rehabilitation, Darcy and his girlfriend Lizzie Turner, who has been an absolute stalwart by his side since he sustained those life-changing injuries, will be providing a regular column in each publication during the season.
Poole boss Matt Ford said "Ever since we learnt the true reality of Darcy's situation, as a club, we wanted to ensure that he continued to play a part in us in someway and this is an ideal opportunity. It will give our readers the opportunity to learn of how Darcy is progressing and an insight into the life of the couple."
"Lizzie has been absolutely amazing and has strived day in and day out to keep Darcy's spirits up. Through this programme feature we certainly look forward to learning more of what that involves."
