KING'S LYNN 41 POOLE 49

14/08/14

Poole boss Matt Ford saw his class of 2014 produce a magnificent comeback in arguably one of the most finest performances in his 498 league matches as a Promoter.

A resounding Poole victory over the league leaders ended the King's Lynn Stars unblemished home record as the Dorset side moved to within six points of the season long pace setters and left Ford singing the praises of his side.

"Results like that are just ones you dream of. It was an incredible turn around and one to be hugely proud of. The lads were just magnificent. We had a torrid journey up there but when you witness a team ride like the Pirates did tonight well, you can only think that it was well worth it."

The Pirates yielded a maximum four point haul from the 49-41 triumph making a huge statement in the process that they aren't prepared to give up their league champions status without a fight.

At one stage Poole trailed by 8 points in a meeting rushed through under thick black cloud cover, but a heat 6 5-1 from Darcy Ward and Maciej Janowski was a building block to an impressive comeback as Josh Grajczonek and Kyle Newman fired in a similar score in heat 7 and  with the battling Milik holding on for third place in heat 8 Poole edged ahead themselves.

Janowski and guest Chris Harris moved that lead to 6 points after a heat 10 5-1 and the Pole featured again in heat 13 with a win whilst Iversen and Ward slugged it out with some brilliant racing moves before Ward earned the verdict for second place to assure Poole the win on the night.

A gate and go ride by Grajczonek in heat 14 protected that double figure lead leaving Ward and Janowski the task of picking up a minimum two points between them for maximum points on the night. Ward, who has moved into the top 5 all-time Poole points scorers, completed that task after yet another intense battle with Iversen.
