KING'S LYNN 38 PIRATES 55

11/08/16

Poole claimed their biggest ever league victory at the Norfolk Arena when for the second time in as many nights they punished the King's Lynn Stars with some excellent gating..

With the Norfolk side still having to field a seriously understrength side the Pirates displayed no compassion and rattled up a 17 point victory that moved them to within 5 points of leaders Belle Vue over whom they currently hold a two match advantage.

Danish duo Hans Andersen and Bjarne Pedersen both went into the final race of the night unbeaten but neither could finish the night with a maximum as the home side pairing of Troy Batchelor and Robert Lambert recorded only the Stars' second heat win of the meeting - the first   being their 8-1 in heat 7 which important as it was, failed to make much of an impact on the rampant Pirates.

Firing in three successive 4-2's after that tactical advantage the Pirates stormed into the interval break nursing a seismic 15 point lead and when racing resumed immediately went about finishing the job with a 5-1 - their fourth of the night - through Andersen and a revived Buczkowski.

Poole boss Matt Ford had been hoping for a  big showing this week from his Pirates and with the maximum seven point haul this week secured he will be hoping that the Dorset boys can keep up the form with two away matches on the horizon - at Leicester on August 20th and Swindon 22nd before the action returns to Wimborne Road on Wednesday 24th August for what is being billed as a Celebration of Poole night where the Poole boss is offering adult admission at £10 which will also include free admission for one child.
