RESULT: POOLE V KING'S LYNN

7/09/16

The 'ReadyPower' Pirates eclipsed the Stars with another 60 plus score as they saw out their regular league programme and move to within one point of second placed Wolverhampton in the latest table, with two away matches to complete.

Pirates' number one Chris Holder stormed his way to an untroubled four ride maximum whilst his fellow Australian Brady Kurtz dropped just a solitary point to the opposition that had last-minute replacement Michael Palm-Toft to thank for putting any credibility into their score.

The Dane who was replacing Nicklas Porsing, the Stars' latest recruit suffering rib damage sustained after their last home meeting, pulled off two scintillating race wins mid-meeting as he attempted to arrest the run of Poole heat advantages. His battling credentials earned him a full seven ride quota as guest team manager Garry May tried to give some respectability to what was very much a one-sided battle.

Poole suppressed May's tactical option in heat 6 with Brady Kurtz storming off into the distance and Edward Kennett, who like Kurtz only dropped one point to an opponent all evening, doing well to fend off Chris Harris, the Stars' guest who was brandishing the black and white helmet.

Kennett admitted after the meeting that he was "determined to do my best tonight, I love coming here and the crowd are always good to me so it is good if I do well for them". His 5-1 partner Kurtz was also "pleased that I have put last week's disappointment behind me and bounce back like this. Things went well for me tonight and we put on a good showing. We are in the play-offs and there are some big meetings to come but no-one should doubt us. We can pull this off."

With the resulting 5-1 being the Pirates second in succession the meeting was effectively done and dusted when Chris Holder and Rohan Tungate ratted in third successive maximum heat advantage to give the Pirates a 20 point advantage.

Apart from Palm-Toft's lone resistance the Pirates were able to extend that to a further 12 point gain over the course of the final third of the meeting.
