BSN PASSES LAUNCH
An action-packed schedule of 58 meetings will be making their way to your screens in 2025.
After three consecutive unbeaten Wimborne Road performances Poole skipper Maciej Janowski had to be content with finishing the sides' lowest scorer as the Pirates recorded their 75th highest winning league margin of all time and their biggest win in over five years.
A 64-29 mauling of the Leicester Lions, restricting the visitors to just one race winner and having unbeaten performances from Chris Holder (five straight wins) and Kyle Newman (four paid wins) moved the Pirates back to within two points of leaders Coventry although the Bees now have a match in hand.
Janowski, on the eve of his 24th birthday was still smiling despite his paid 7 return which would have been more had he not taken a purler in heat 7 and admitted "I am happy enough. I am always happy when we are winning and that was a very good win for us tonight so why shouldn't I be happy. It might not have been such a good day for me but we won and that was important."
It was a win that very much reduced the Lions' roar to a mere whimper as the Pirates attacked from the off and produced some good passing moves. None better than Chris Holder's exploits in heat 7 as he trailed Piotr Swiderski.
Holder explained "I was getting a bit frustrated that I couldn't get it together to get round him but I kept battling away and all of a sudden he gave me just half a chance and I was determined to make the most of it. That felt real good to get by him and get the win. I really needed to do something tonight after Monday. That was a shocker for me. It wasn't a good day for me to be racing on Monday but hopefully I can put all that behind me now."
Leicester's only race winner came when former Pirate Jason Doyle was on the hunt for double points and he made all the running over Dave Watt in heat 6, and with Kacper Gomolski unable to reel in Swiderski the Lions banked a 2-7 advantage but then fell apart. The Lions' other ex-Pirate, Grzegorz Walasek, endured his worse performance at Wimborne Road since failing to score for Poole against King's Lynn on April 18th 2001, as he managed just 2 plus one , only beating the strickened Janowski in that heat 8 drama!
The Pirates strung together six maximum heat scores over the course of the final 8 heats and had the meeting points safely in their account with four heats remaining.
