Poole Coastal Aluminium Pirates avenged for their defeat at Belle Vue 10 days ago with a 13 point victory in an entertaining league match that maintains their unbeaten home form/

With Chris Holder celebrating a paid maximum, Przemyslaw Pawlicki in great form despite hitting the deck heavily in two of his rides and Josh Grajczonek producing some breathtaking rides, the Pirates were queuing up for the Rider of the Night nomination.

The Pirates might well have won this match, considered by many before tapes up as being a real test for the Dorset club, by a good deal more than 13 points. Vaclav Milik and guest from next week\'s visitors Lakeside, Adam Ellis were on a 5-1 in heat 4 when the race was stopped following a fall by Aces\' debutant Lee Payne which resulted in the youngster sustaining a shoulder injury and forced to withdraw from the remainder of the meeting.

When that heat was re-started Dane Michael Palm-Toft managed to get a much improved start and defended the Aces corner well by sharing the points to keep Poole in check at 13-11.

Aces skipper Craig Cook incurred the wrath of the Poole fans when he rolled blatantly at the start of heat 6, which earned him a warning from the referee and then in the re-run left Shamel Pawlicki no room at all on the fourth turn and ran the Pole into the fence. Cook was far from happy with the decision to disqualify him and he let the man in charge know in no uncertain terms what he thought as he returned to the pits.

The pace of Matej Zagar helped minimize the damage as he split the Poole duo of Pawlicki and Milik in the re-run but it was the Poole fans on their feet in the next heat when Josh Grajczonek wound on all the power on the final lap of heat 7 to blitz by long time leader Richie Worrall to share the heat.

By the second all reserves heat (9) the Pirates had established a 12 point lead and the Aces faced that heat with just one rider following Payne\'s early night. Bit Stefan Nielsen did them proud by leading home the Poole guest pair of Hopwood and Ellis and with Cook a nailed on for a tactical ride in heat 10 the Aces looked set to trim back some of that deficit.

There was more brilliance from Grajczonek though as he stormed round the first turn to join Holder at the front to thwart any hopes of double points for the visitors leaving the Aces to try again in the very next heat, this time through Zagar.  It was Pawlicki and Janowski first to show and the race was going the Pirates way when suddenly Pawlicki clipped the back straight fence hard, his bike careering across the path of Worrall and both riders ending up on the deck.

Thankfully both were back on their feet in double quick time and it all fell on Janowski to fight Poole\'s corner in the re-run. Despite a good start the Poole skipper had no answer to Zagar\'s power and suddenly the deficit facing the visitors was restricted to single figures.

Grajczonek made it three wins on the bounce and partnered by Ellis it put victory virtually beyond the reach of the Aces. When Holder completed his paid maximum - his first in Britain since June 21st last year - aided and abetted by Janowski Poole fans were hoping that they might finish the meeting similar to the way the Aces had trounced the Pirates in Manchester last month.

But Worrall made the running in heat 14 and Milik, having avoided colliding with the backstraight fence, saw off Nielsen and set up trying to hunt down the leading Ace. Second place appeared in the bag when his bike spluttered loudly off the final turn and the Czech had to limp up pointless from the ride. But it was just too little too late from the visitors and there was nothing hinging on the final heat, won by the tough Pawlicki.
