PIRATES POSTPONE PLAY-OFF AGAINST MONARCHS

19/09/23

Facing an extremely adverse weather forecast for Wednesday, the Poole management have been prompted to make an early call to postpone the visit of the Edinburgh Monarchs in the SGB Cab Direct Championship group play-offs and the fixture will now take place next Wednesday (27th) .

Reaching the decision, promoter Dan Ford said today (Tuesday) "The weather has not been favourable this week and the forecast for tomorrow is horrendous. It makes no sense for us to plough along believing the meeting has a decent chance of going ahead and we have therefore decided to take no chances and make this early call and we are grateful too to the Edinburgh promotion for their co-operation.

"I would just like to point out, that we attempted to have gone on an alternative night which would have allowed us not to clash with our sporting neighbours AFC Bournemouth who have  a cup home fixture next week and we didn't want two important local sporting events to clash, especially as the patronage of both ourselves and the Cherries is shared by many, but unfortunately the stadium is not available to us next Tuesday so we will be running next Wednesday and regret the inconvenience that might present to fans of both ourselves and the Cherries."

The Pirates are hoping that there is a significant improvement in conditions ahead of their trip to Scunthorpe on Friday as they seek a victory that would keep their play-off final qualifications alive.
The remaining group play off fixtures are
